Leica Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH Lens Black Summary
There are not too many manufacturers who can boast over 150 years of optical experience, however  is one. The release of their new generation Leica Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH Lens Black is the culmination of this technical know-how. A versatile masterpiece is the result, in a compact standard prime , capable of rendering incredibly high resolution, which the latest  capture.
The 50mm focal width provides greater freedom to create high-contrast, incredibly detailed images, even in low light thanks to the bright f/1.4 aperture. A new closer minimum focusing distance of 45cm opens up yet more creative opportunities, made possible by the specially developed double cam mechanism. Despite the new optical design, 11-bladed aperture and closer focusing, the Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH Lens dimensions remain unchanged from the previous model, for a portable, highly compact prime lens.

A modern masterpiece
The new generation Leica Summilux-M 50 f/1.4 ASPH. Lens in Black has been created to meet the demands of modern sensors found in cameras such as the , which was release alongside this lens. The standard prime resolves 60 megapixels of incredible detail which fourth generation Rangefinders capture, along with high-contrast results, in almost any situation.
Close 45cm minimum focus distance
Detailed close-ups are possible with the Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 thanks to a double cam mechanism and a minimum focusing distance of 45 centimetres. Leica engineers developed the mechanism in order to also increase the rotation range of the distance ring compared to the previous lens model.
This facilitates extremely easy and convenient focusing over the entire range, particularly in the close-up range, with distances as short as 70cm handled via the rangefinder. For the extended close-up range of 70 to 45 centimetres, you can focus via Live View on the screen, Visoflex or the Leica FOTOS App.
Intuitive and consistent photography
It was important to Leica that the new generation lens maintains the same physical dimensions the the previous model, which they successfully achieved. The new model weighs only 377 grams, despite packing an updated optical design and 11-bladed aperture diaphragm, where the previous model included 9-blades. This creates even rounder bokeh with beautiful defocus areas and that unmistakable Leica look. A modern rounded lens hood can be easily unscrewed for even more flexibility from the integrated design, which protects the lens, whilst increasing contract for backlit subjects.
