Sigma 24mm f/3.5 DG DN Contemporary L Mount Summary
The Sigma 24mm f/3.5 DG DN Contemporary Lens – L-Mount is a wide angle prime lens for mirrorless L-mount system cameras, and is part of Sigmas I series of lenses, offering incredible optical quality in a compact, portable form. The 24mm F/3.5 DG DN I C Contemporary Lens is ideal for walk-around shooting, travel, landscapes, architectural, as well as street photography and video applications. It features an f3.5 aperture 1/2 life size (1:2) maximum magnification ratio and 10.8 cm close focusing distance for working with close-up subjects. Its optical design features both aspherical and low dispersion glass elements, which control aberrations and distortions for accurate image rendering. A Super Multi-Layer coating helps to reduce ghosting and flare for improved colour fidelity and contrast. Takes filter size 55mm.
The SIGMA I series introduces compact, beautifully designed, high-performance optics for mirrorless camera systems. In its first collection, SIGMA introduces a 24mm wide-angle prime to the Contemporary lens line-up that offers excellent portability and versatility.
The all-new 24mm F3.5 DG DN | C offers a very compact design similar to that of the 45mm F2.8 DG DN | C. Despite its small size, there is no compromise on performance – it is capable of capturing the finest details when shooting on high resolution full-frame cameras. With a very short minimum focus distance of 10.8cm and a maximum reproduction ratio of 1:2, it enables photographers to shoot freely without feeling limited by how close they can get to their subject.
One of the key advantages of mirrorless cameras is their smaller form-factor, and this new 24mm optic is designed to be perfectly matched to these more compact systems without sacrificing performance, producing a combination of superb optical quality with exceptional portability.
Stunning detail and beautiful bokeh – The high resolving power of the 24mm F3.5 DG DN | Contemporary covers the entire image from the centre to the edges, which means photographers can rely on edge-to-edge sharpness at all apertures when shooting wide-angle scenes. With a minimum focusing distance of 10.8cm and a maximum reproduction ratio of 1:2, it enables photographers to explore a subject more freely, from capturing distant landscapes to photographing close-ups of smaller objects.
In addition to the attractive bokeh, the lens also produces near-circular out-of-focus highlights, even at the edges of the frame. This makes the lens perfect for shooting close-up image of an in-focus subject with a blurred background, a technique that is very useful in a variety of settings.
The lens features the latest optical design optimised for mirrorless systems. This includes high-precision, glass-molded aspherical elements created with advanced processing technology, and SLD glass and high refractive index glass elements. Together they make it possible to combine performance with portability. In addition, the smooth focus drive system designed around a quiet and fast stepping motor also makes the 24mm F3.5 DG DN | C a desirable choice for shooting video.
Exceptional build quality with a compact form-factor – All I series lenses have an all-metal construction. The precision-cut aluminium parts not only give the barrel a sleek, stylish finish but provide superb durability, which improves the quality of the entire product. Metal materials are also used in internal structures that slide with the operation ring for added robustness. These high-precision components, crafted with SIGMA’s cutting-edge metalworking technology, are also used in the production of the cine lens line-up for professional film-makers and provide an exceptionally premium feel that make these lenses a joy to use.
Features an aperture ring, metal lens hood and magnetic lens cap – Despite being exceptionally small and light for an all-metal, full-frame lens, the 24mm F3.5 DG DN |C has impressive functionality, with an aperture ring that allows photographers to change apertures on the lens, or when set to Auto, in-camera if preferred. Special sound-deadening grease has been used to give the ring a precise but smooth action. Included in the box is the regular plastic SIGMA lens cap, as well as a metal cap that attaches to the front of the lens magnetically. A lens cap holder is available to buy separately, which can be clipped to a bag strap or clothing and holds the cap magnetically while the lens is being used. The lens comes with an all-metal lens hood.
